DESCRIPTION: This project is worthy of Category I recognition because of its size and complexity of the bridge, significant impact it will have to the region, and it was completed on time and under budget. Our engineers ensured the bridge was constructed per the detailed bridge assembly plan as it was built with a 50-degree skew including coordinating nighttime beam picking and setting operations. With a smoother and wider bridge, travelers can more safely commute between the City of Rockford and Village of Cherry Valley. Future construction projects may proceed along the I-39 corridor including the replacement of the Mulford Road bridge to the West and I-39 mainline reconstruction and widening.
