A partial diamond interchange is located at Waukegan Road (IL 43) and there are 11 mainline bridges including structures over Metra and the Union Pacific Railroads; the West and Middle Forks of the North Branch of the Chicago River; Skokie Boulevard; and a flyover for the northbound lanes of the Edens Expressway. Two crossroad bridges carry Pfingsten Road and Waukegan Road over the Edens Spur.

Originally the design was to be completed in 30 months for two construction contracts. The Illinois Tollway requested that Ciorba Group accelerate the project to deliver the project in half that time. The Concept Report outlining the proposed improvements was completed within four months and four separate sets of final design plans were completed in a 10 month period allowing all construction contracts to be awarded by early 2019.
