Description: The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) selected Gonzalez Companies (Gonzalez) to provide Phase III construction management for the rehabilitation of the Montrose Avenue bridge over the Kennedy Expressway (I-94) in Chicago, IL. The 3-span, 469-foot Montrose Avenue bridge spans over significant transportation facilities and is located near the congruence of the Kennedy and Edens Expressways (Edens Junction). The facilities this bridge spans over include the Kennedy Expressway which is comprised of 6 inbound and 6 outbound local lanes and 2 reversible lanes, the CTA Blue Line, and Montrose station. The improvement included superstructure replacement, substructure rehabilitation, lighting and drainage improvements, and traffic signal improvements. Gonzalez assigned the required project leadership and assembled a team of qualified subconsultants including AECOM Technical Services, Inc., Alfred Benesch & Co., Primera Engineers, Ltd., Transystems Corporation, Sanchez & Associates, P.C., and Interra, Inc to provide IDOT with a team that could successfully deliver this important and complex project.
